Holiday makers beware – an baggage handler has been filmed going through passengers’ bags and suitcases in a popular airport for tourists
A thieving airport worker has been caught on camera opening luggage and ‘swiping the contents.’
The brazen baggage handler was arrested and charged after he was filmed unzipping bags and allegedly helping himself to passengers’ possessions.
Footage shows the 27-year-old rummaging through several suitcases in the luggage compartment of a JetStar Flight bound for Singapore.
Following his arrest at Phuket International Airport, Thailand, a Bluetooth speaker was recovered, according to the Phuket Gazette.
The man was employed by BAGS, a third party baggage handling company.
A Jetstar spokesman told news.com.au it has launched an investigation into the thefts.
In a statement, the airline said: “Jetstar is aware of a video circulating online and we are taking the matter very seriously.
“We have launched an immediate investigation and will work with Airports of Thailand, our ground handler BAGS and our local security company to ensure the security of our customers’ property on-board our flights.”
BAGS provides baggage services for around 90 airlines in Thailand, according to the spokesman.
