- The flight was traveling from Moscow and Vitaly insulted the Russian passengers
A drunk plane passenger was punched in the face after he hurled abuse and screamed that fellow travellers were the ‘sh*ttiest people’ ever.
The man, named only as 22-year-old Vitaly, was on a flight heading from the Russian capital of Moscow to Barcelona in north-eastern Spain when the incident happened.
Eyewitnesses say the man was heavily intoxicated when he decided he wanted to smoke a cigarette onboard the plane.
He was repeatedly told no by flight crew but grew angry at the response and started yelling at other passengers.
It is claimed he said: ‘Russian people are the biggest sh*ts. For real. Russian people are the biggest sh*ts.’
But passengers refused to take the abuse, with one jumping up to punch the mouthy drunk in the face.
It is claimed Vitaly then realised he went too far, sat down and promptly fell asleep.
It is reported that prior to the violent outburst, the plane captain was considering making an emergency landing but decided against it when he quietened down.
Vitaly later apologised for the incident.
He said: ‘I have a good feeling towards Russians, because it is my motherland. These words were not addressed to the Russian people in general but people on that plane. I had too much to drink and I was punished.
‘I feel ashamed.’
But many social media users did not have much sympathy.
One called ‘Norma Ray’ said: ‘Shame that he got punched only once.’
While another, identified as ‘Vezhliviye Lyudi’ added: ‘I bet from now on every time he would say something mean, he would get a punch.’
